Having joined our team of artists in July 2013, Cristina now teaches fulltime at the Art Metro, working in both the children's and adults' programmes.

Cristina was born in Bucharest, Romania, and has been living, studying and working in New Zealand since 1999. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Canterbury (2009), A Ph.D in Fine Arts, also from the University of Canterbury (2014) and has exhibited in New Zealand and abroad since 2005. She has been a finalist in the Anthony Harper Award (Christchurch 2009), the Cliftons Art Prize (Wellington 2011), the WWF - New Zealand Art Award (Wellington 2011), and has initiated group exhibitions such as The Colour of Distance (Papakura Art Gallery, Auckland, 2011) and Sense of Place (Hastings City Art Gallery, Hawkes Bay 2012).
