Rebecca was born in Christchurch where she has lived most of her life, although this has been interrupted from time to time by the excitement of overseas travel. After leaving school, she attended Canterbury University, where she achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She then joined Ilam Art School and gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting.

Shortly after, she also gained a Graduate Teaching Diploma in Art at the Christchurch College of Education and has spent several years travelling around the world, teaching at both senior and primary levels in the United Kingdom and Australia as well as here in New Zealand.

Rebecca has now settled in Christchurch, and having a passion for art, has begun developing her own artistic practice. She has recently begun tutoring at the Art Metro Art School where she shares her experience and love of art with adults and children of all ages. She is also taking her skills out into the community, developing the Art Metro’s School Support and Retirement Village Programmes.

‘I am a very visual person and through my time as an artist I have come to understand and appreciate how people learn to make their own art using many different mediums. I have been inspired by my travels and my own personal interests, enjoying the experience of capturing the world I have discovered, using a variety of artistic methods. I am committed to continuing my personal artistic journey and I find great satisfaction in encouraging the uniqueness of other people’s artistic expression.’
