Favourite painting media: oils, acrylics, and watercolour

Odi Lopez is an Art Tutor, painter, animator, animation instructor, illustrator, and graphic designer. He received his Fine Arts degree in Technological University of the Philippines. He started teaching at Art Metro as a painting relief tutor for adults and children programs. He runs a series of life drawing workshops and provides private art tutoring. Recently, he conducted art lessons for kids at the New Zealand Centre for Gifted Education (NZCGE).

Odi discovered his passion for teaching when he started as a training instructor for a major animation studio in the Philippines and as a part-time instructor for a tertiary college animation program.

Before becoming an art tutor, he worked as a character animator for cartoon series produced and/or distributed by Cartoon Network, Disney, Marvel, DC, Warner Brothers, Lego and some animation studios based in Auckland.

The animation industry honed him to be a versatile artist. Working in the studio exposed him in an art form that combines different disciplines like concept design, illustration, figure drawing, painting, sculpture, acting, storyboarding, music, sound, and visual effects.

“I enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills in artmaking but what makes me truly satisfied iswatching students naturally develop their styles as a result of a consistent study of art concepts and discovering new techniques.”
